Suzuki SX4 compact crossover of the second generation has grown up and is preparing to conquer a new market segment, where he will meet face to face with the Nissan Qashqai and Mitsubishi ASX.
Suzuki SX4 first generation, though hardly be referred to the most successful models of Suzuki, but its contribution to the “box office” of the Japanese automaker makes it regularly every year.
The car is available as a hatchback body, which, because of the all-wheel drive, are often classified as a crossover in the class and in the sedan, which gives an extra bonuses to sales.
Plus, this hatchback crossover has also fellow Italian – Fiat Sedici, which proved to be the poor relation of the present. Differing from the Suzuki SX4 only emblems for all the years of its existence the Fiat Sedici could not boast of a quarter and the attention that Japanese buyers paid relative.
In the new generation that was not the hatchback
If in Russia in 2012, it sold 14,614 Suzuki SX4, Fiat Sedici is found on only one one (!) The purchaser. Even such exotic sports cars like Spyker C8 and it was sold twice more – as much as two pieces.
The most interesting is that with the advent of the second generation Suzuki SX4, a precursor to peace is not going to. Both cars will be produced and sold in parallel for another year.
But most of all, the new Suzuki SX4 will come up with some additional name, for example, Suzuki SX4 XL, which very accurately reflects the essence of the new crossover. It is a crossover rather than all-wheel drive hatchback, as the new Suzuki SX4 – it’s a hundred percent crossover without any reservations.
At length the machine grew by 15 cm (4.30 m) wide by 1 cm (1.76 m), the wheelbase has grown by 10 cm (2.60 m) and now Suzuki SX4 became a full C-Class. Due to the increased wheelbase on the rear seat was roomier, simultaneously increased capacity and luggage – 430 liters vs 253 liters predecessor.

Europeans offer more diesel version with a six-speed “mechanics”, but in Russia it is by tradition will not be delivered. About a year later Suzuki SX4 will get a two-liter engine with 140 hp the elder sister Suzuki Grand Vitara, and perhaps afterwards to be borrowed four-step “automatic machine”.
He however, as most Grand Vitara, it is high time to go on a holiday. European Suzuki SX4 will have a ground clearance of 170 mm, and for Russia, given its age-old ills, it will increase to 180 mm.
As for equipment, it also could be called average, if not two-part panoramic roof. This kind of “bells and whistles” are quite rare in cars of this class, but hardly “Panorama” will provoke a mass exodus of customers.
As well as seven airbags, keyless engine start and dual-zone climate control. After all, do not forget that his main trump card – the price, Suzuki SX4 and will lose much more expensive predecessor. How much? Exact prices are not yet known, but most likely, the car will rise at least 100 000.
The new crossover, the company has serious plans
This means that the Suzuki SX4 is now equal to the competitors not only in size but also in price. And if the Nissan Qashqai has long won the trust of buyers, as well as Mitsubishi ASX, for which last year was voted the ruble over 20,000 customers, the Suzuki SX4 is only to be done.
And the Japanese themselves are planning to sell in Russia 24,000 crossovers and this despite the fact that in 2012 the Russian market were sold 32 684 cars of all Suzuki models. Similar Napoleonic plans to extend to Europe, where he planned to implement another 61,000 vehicles.
Release of the second generation Suzuki SX4 will start soon in Hungary, and the first cars will be in showrooms Russian dealers until late autumn of this year.
